Following the creation of Ekiti State on October 1, 1996; we as sons and daughters of Ekiti Land and descendants of Oduduwa sojourning in foreign land (United States of America), deem it compelling to organize ourselves and founded the Ekiti Progressive Union (EPU) in 1999. The Union was created to utilize the benefits of team efforts to maintain and sustain economic empowerment and social rapport (for the advantage of one another and our people in Ekiti State) through:

• Creation of conducive environment for Social rapport among members of the Union.
• Assisting members of the Union to secure better employment opportunities
• Promotion of Ekiti cultural heritage.
• Constant deliberations of matters of political-economic importance to Ekiti State.
• Exploration of and embarking on all avenues to assist our people in Ekiti State Nigeria.
• To promote unity and love among ourselves.

The EPU is non-profit but charitable organization dedicated to helping the needy at home in Nigeria and in diasporas. In fulfilling this noble objective, the Union, in the past in partnership with the now Ekiti State University (EKSU) equipped the University computer lab. The Union has also been donating Medical Equipment and has established a Scholarship Award Foundation through which funds were awarded to many indigent but brilliant students across the local government areas of Ekiti State. The following should be of interest:

• EPU meets every second Sunday of the month
•  Collect monthly dues or yearly financial help to support our activities.
•  Other contributions, to help and support needy members.
• We organize annual picnics around summertime to socialize and for fun among our members.
•  We also organize end-of-year get-togethers, including cultural shows and special entertainment.
•  Organize Scholarship programs for students in Nigeria.
•  Attend member’s family celebrations and events at any time.
• We are not limited to or by any of the programs listed here.

In a move towards the enrichment of the struggling generation home. The EPU has been donating Medical Equipment and awarding Scholarships to our Ekiti needy Students. All our Ekiti indigenes in the USA are urged to join this Ekiti peace-loving Organization. Our vision is sure.
